Welcome to your European Market Guide. Soon this site will be full of insider tips on where to visit, view and buy the things that interest you most whilst in Europe. Whether your decorating your home, you're wardrobe, tasting seasonal produce or just looking for somewhere to pass time in the sunshine, you will find the where, what and when posted here.
Fashionistas will find where to search for those vintage Chanel earrings in Paris, Loewe bags in Madrid, Ferragamo pumps in Milan, and Vivienne Westwood kilts in London. Don't worry if an A-list budget escapes you, there will be clothes sold by the kilo, from blankets on the streets and from rails in the rain - there is something for everyone, and a zen-like joy to be had in the searching.
Foodies will taste the exotic, seasonal and organic. Find the Sardinhas in Lisbon, Bratwurst in Berlin, Chocolate in Brouges, and all manner of national drinks from Ouzo (Greece & Cyprus) to Whiskey (Scotch) in Edinburgh and Cava in Catalonia. A large shopping bag is a must, and a picnic blanket should the weather permit, so your fayre can be tasted immediately. There is nothing better than rubbing shoulders with locals, bartering, sampling and savouring the taste, sounds and smells of a neighbourhood fresh market, to make you feel you have found the soul of a place (or plaice if you happen to be in the Mediterranean!).
